FS: Azimuth Spaceship SP-1 - Price Reduction
Up For Sale is my Azimuth SP-1 Spaceship
It is an unusual and fascinating piece from a small manufacure that specialises in the slightly strange and often whimsical.
A manual wind Unitas 6497-1 manual wind movement with a jumping hour indication in a satellite setting on the minute hand, running seconds on a disc at 6 o’clock and crown set at 12 o’clock.
But the technical details pale in contrast to how it looks.
The dial is a piece of dark blue Aventurine stone that is hard to photograph. It sparkles and flashes with every incident ray of light to give the effect of a dark starry background. Over this, the large skeletonised titanium minute hand circles with the jumping hour disk at the far end. A cut out frames the current hour. This looks like a sleek rocket moving through the void of space. At 6 o’clock is the running seconds disk with an applied pointer that looks very reminiscent of a Star Trek logo.
All this sits inside a 45mm 316L stainless steel case with an interesting mix of polished and brushed finishes under a high, domed sapphire crystal that follows the contours of the case. In profile its very “flying saucer” shaped - think Lost in Space “Jupiter 2”, but with curves.
Its fitted to a moulded rubber strap with a butterfly clasp in the shape of the company’s logo.
The movement is visible through a sapphire crystal caseback and is nicely decorated with Geneve striping and blued screws.
The timber presentation box is also fairly substantial and nicely finished.
This was bought new from a dealer and is one of a collection of around 60, so has not seen lots of wear.
The case and crystals are blemish free. The presentation box lining has a faint discolouration spot on the inside of the lid. All warranty and manual papers are included.
I’m asking for $2,300 USD which includes shipping to the USA or Australia, extra additional cost to other parts of the world at actual cost. Bank transfer preferred, but will consider PayPal for a verified buyer.
Plenty of references available upon request.
Time is an Illusion. Lunchtime Doubly so.
