Default Shoes for men

What shoes are for women, watches can be for men. I've got three watches in the pipeline and still on the look out for more. When will it be enough? I stopped explaining to co-workers and friends. I cannot explain why I have more than one watch. Can you?

My explanation is: I have more than 1 watch because I can...

The usual explanation that I give is that "I am fascinated how such a small mechanical device can be that precise and beautiful at the same time". With that, their eyes glaze over and walk away...

I don't know man, my only other vice is shoes. I grew up with one pair at a time. As an adult, when I was able to provide for myself, I now own a pair of shoes for every occasion. I have some very nice shoes....probably better than my watch collection. I realize this might forever tanrish my rep here but had to say there is absolutely nothing wrong with loving the leather that's strapped to your feet!

Ya know...no one really has asked me that question. I've only gotten comments like, "You really have a lot of watches." Nothing really negative though from friends.

My wife is the only one that gives me grief. I just give her the "I love you too hun" smile as a response.

I've noticed that several fellow WIS have been reducing the size of their collections recently. I find that I can't do that. I am trying very hard to hold at my current number, but I love the watches I have too much to throw anyone out to the curb.

I'm very capable of just owning one watch but there are so many cool and affordable pieces available now that it doesn't make sense for me to limit myself that way. All the superb strap mods available today give unique and personalized looks on the wrist to wear, too. I like that feeling and its fun to try out different combinations to find the best look and fit. Having these straps is similar to having shirts tailored just for me. Its just flat out cool to have things personalized. On top of that and perhaps most basically, I like watches (from the front and from the back). Period.

I know that I really enjoy watches because more that half of the time that I've looked at the watch on my wrist, I have no clue what time it is. Another "tell" that I have is that at 10 past 10 or 10 minutes to 2, I often stop what I'm doing and see if I'm in an interesting area to take a watch pic. Call me weird if you like but its fun. I almost never give out advice to others but I'm sure about this: You only go around once in life so try to do things that put smiles on your face as much as you can.

I've got some limits personally with 4 dependents interested in my pay stubs so I choose to share some of those smiles (that involve having money) with them. If I was single, I'd likely have an entire bedroom dedicated to watches and watch paraphernalia!

I agree with you Mesh Guy on straps…many times simply changing the strap on a watch have given it whole new look and feel.

As for owning watches, hey, if you've got the money i don't see why shouldn't own as many as you like. I personally have a taste for only three at a time. Although, In time that may change.

Even to the end, Gollum wanted only one ring. Perhaps, someday I'll find my Precious and be done.

Ah, real shoes. I'm very conservative with my dress shoes. A pair of black Crockett & Jones Bedford's, two pairs of Van Lier's and one very old pair of Cheaney's. For the rest: a pair of Sperry Gold Cup's and a 30 year old pair of Western boots (Anne always rolls her eyes when I wear them, I can't imagine why ). And about 6 pairs of Adidas sneakers. And flip-flops and sandals for the easy life

Exactly!

I slept at a Holiday Inn Express before moving here.
