Default Why does Evine present only Invicta?

Hello friends, I used to watch ShopNBC when multiple watch companies presented their watches. I got my start in this obsession unexpectedly one night when I was channel surfing and I accidentally stumbled onto a nice gentleman named David Mermelstein who was showing his Croton watches. That's how I became hooked on watches. I ended up buying some Crotons, Stuhrling Originals, a couple of Invictas, and a few from a couple of the other brands.

Today that show is called Evine and Invicta has some sort of hold on this channel. Invicta watches are presented for hours on end and rarely is some other brand presented.

Does anyone know why?

Does anyone know how the other watch companies feel about being snubbed by Evine?

Never heard of it.

I think that there is a stigma that goes along with selling on TV that brands try to steer clear of. I believe that they feel it cheapens the brand.

EVINE Live

On February 13, 2015, ShopHQ was rebranded as EVINE Live after the acquisition of an eCommerce product company owning a site called Evine.

I recently saw Deep Blue, Swiss Legend and AVI8 watches there, usualy in the late evening. Invicta definitly has the market share there.

Answer is simple. EVINE is a business and Invicta pays them the most either through revenue share of goods sold or a straight up flat fee. The reason other companies show up later in the day is that the time slot they choose to buy/can afford.

There is no stigma to selling on TV. As a business you go to where your customers are.

In this instance, there just aren't enough people that would pick up the phone to impulse buy a Rolex to justify using EVINE as a distribution channel.

......but it definitely does "cheapen" the brand that is being sold on TV.....Specifically watches in this case

I think you have a certain brand in your head and are making an incorrect correlation to what hurt the brand to begin with which is customer service and not the fact that they are sold on TV.

As a result, the "act of selling on TV" is actually getting stigmatized by the this Brand you see doing it.

Ask yourself why this would only be "specifically for watches."

Apple products was recently sold on EVINE TV. I don't think this act hurts the brand at all.

The real ironic part is that all this exposure on TV is actually strengthening the Brand to the general public. They have way more brand recognition then a lot of those coveted on this forum.

IMO it certainly cheapens a brand if it is on TV being sold along side a Sham Wow and Candleless Candles

We all know that Invicta is the main brand in question here. There are other watch brands involved as well. I certainly won't list them all, but Deep Blue is another brand that has "cheaped" themselves with the cheesy TV stuff....again, there are others.

Poor Quality, and Lousy Customer Service are just "add ons" for Invicta. Those "add ons" come AFTER the cheap TV sales pitches, and the resulting cheap sale.

You say that poor customer service is what "hurt" the Invicta brand.
Well let's look at it another way, with another TV brand. Deep Blue has a reputation for decent quality, and great customer service, but....take a look at Deep Blue's product offering and pricing from 5 years ago, and compare it to what they offer today, and you'll see what I'm talking about. The brand is a much "cheaper" brand today than it was 5 years ago. TV sales tactics are the main culprit in the changes that have obviously taken place.

Apple is a COMPLETELY different animal than a watch company. We could discuss and debate, for hours, the obvious differences in watch brands as they compare to Apple, but there really is simply no comparison.

New members to watch collecting don't seem to have the education that comes from reading blogs and reviews. Same with so many other things in life, opinions are just that.
Look at #4 s last reply and learn from those who came before.
Just my take on Invicta. Some forums ban them now
As according to the forum owner it cheapens the brand of the site

Honestly, a lot of this has been happening here and I have reduced my visits just from that

A lot of what has been happening??

There are a tiny few threads about Invicta compared to the overall active threads on this site about every other brand and everything else.

Nothing has changed on this site over the past 2-3 years. There are a few Invicta threads and the rest are about the VAST rest of the watch and watch related world.

If you only want to talk about Invicta, and other similar TV brands, there is one (and one only) forum where that is the norm.

But if you want to talk about ALL BRANDS, including occasionally Invicta and other brands primarily sold on TV, that is what has always been the norm on this site.

Agreed....can you imagine watching them sell Sinn Watches on SLOPnbc and watching the Sinn Mystique evaporate as they sell 5000 of them in just one show with BS "Once Only's" and Value Pay with Tim "Templeton" blah blah blah blah.

Guess you are right. Does having a thread category titled "TV Watch Shows" that was fairly active for years "cheapen" a watch forum too?

Seems like it "cheapened" only after the brand in question lost favor when previously everyone was more than happy for getting a chance to purchase deals offered by tv.

Last few "Invicta" topics were actually about

1. definition of "Swiss made" which tintocker shared will be changing again in 2017 (new information I'm betting many people on the forum).
2. Tv as a sales vehicle
3. Bad behavior on forums based on personal biases

I mean if you actually read deeper into the contents of the threads that is.
