Why does Evine present only Invicta?

Hello friends, I used to watch ShopNBC when multiple watch companies presented their watches. I got my start in this obsession unexpectedly one night when I was channel surfing and I accidentally stumbled onto a nice gentleman named David Mermelstein who was showing his Croton watches. That's how I became hooked on watches. I ended up buying some Crotons, Stuhrling Originals, a couple of Invictas, and a few from a couple of the other brands.

Today that show is called Evine and Invicta has some sort of hold on this channel. Invicta watches are presented for hours on end and rarely is some other brand presented.

Does anyone know why?

Does anyone know how the other watch companies feel about being snubbed by Evine?

Never heard of it.

I think that there is a stigma that goes along with selling on TV that brands try to steer clear of. I believe that they feel it cheapens the brand.

Answer is simple. EVINE is a business and Invicta pays them the most either through revenue share of goods sold or a straight up flat fee. The reason other companies show up later in the day is that the time slot they choose to buy/can afford.

There is no stigma to selling on TV. As a business you go to where your customers are.

In this instance, there just aren't enough people that would pick up the phone to impulse buy a Rolex to justify using EVINE as a distribution channel.

......but it definitely does "cheapen" the brand that is being sold on TV.....Specifically watches in this case

New members to watch collecting don't seem to have the education that comes from reading blogs and reviews. Same with so many other things in life, opinions are just that.
Look at #4 s last reply and learn from those who came before.
Just my take on Invicta. Some forums ban them now
As according to the forum owner it cheapens the brand of the site

Honestly, a lot of this has been happening here and I have reduced my visits just from that

Last few "Invicta" topics were actually about

1. definition of "Swiss made" which tintocker shared will be changing again in 2017 (new information I'm betting many people on the forum).
2. Tv as a sales vehicle
3. Bad behavior on forums based on personal biases

I mean if you actually read deeper into the contents of the threads that is.

A lot of what has been happening??

There are a tiny few threads about Invicta compared to the overall active threads on this site about every other brand and everything else.

Nothing has changed on this site over the past 2-3 years. There are a few Invicta threads and the rest are about the VAST rest of the watch and watch related world.

If you only want to talk about Invicta, and other similar TV brands, there is one (and one only) forum where that is the norm.

But if you want to talk about ALL BRANDS, including occasionally Invicta and other brands primarily sold on TV, that is what has always been the norm on this site.

If I can buy a brand new Sinn at preowned price, on Evine, I would. Happily and extremely excited. That way I wouldn't feel the risk of losing money. Same goes for a Stowa, JeanRichard and other brands that I'd love to own one day, but can't now unless they were on 5 or 6 value pays. (I know it's not gonna happen, most likely) I don't care about other people's opinion about any brand I own, as long as my eyes love it and I think it's a keeper, I'm happy.

Shop NBC helped me to get a bunch of pieces I wanted at a monthly price I could afford. I don't own any of them anymore as I moved to loving diver style pieces the last couple years but it was a great feeling to get what I want, when I want, even when I couldn't afford the full price in one payment. It was very rewarding and fulfilling to have that love for a piece that I couldn't pay full price for, but was happily paying for every 30 days.

The last 6 or 7 purchases I made from TV, only did it cus they were as low as preowned or cheaper. Couldn't pass on the deals. Ended up selling them for no loss and some for a couple bucks in profit, but it was nice to "sample" them in hopes of loving them.

Ask me if I'd care about Doxa selling on Evine and the repercussions that would do on the brand ? Not one bit. If it helps other people get the watch they want and can't afford in one payment, that makes me happy. We are all here for many reasons and many of us love to help when someone needs info, opinions, etc. So why would I not like to see many great brands on their website at preowned prices (on a Once Only event) but brand new? (I'm sure many would be over priced too) :) I care more about pride of ownership due to love of wrist eye candy than anything else, Bang for the buck !

Because like it or not, it would cheapen the brand and then those watches you covet wouldn't be so prestigious.

If they sell them in mass quantities (not just having one or two pieces) like they do with invicta or deep blue then the value is lowered.

Then resale value also would go down. So if you bought one at retail , and go to sell, now you have to sell below evine prices...

Like it or not, watches have perceived value and if these brands were being sold like this, that perceived value isn't there anymore.

I'm sure many would like a Lamborghini as an example but if they cost $20,000 they wouldn't have the stigma they do now.

If a watch Is sold on these shows with dropping prices, once only etc and the price fluctuations...it cheapens the brand in my opinion.

Jason,

Some people are good at saving, I wish I was. I'm not one to want to save month after month just to get a watch, I can't. I'd get distracted and spend it. I'm not gonna save $300 a month for a $1,500 watch but I'd definitely pay $300 a month as I own it for 5 month.

TC,

I know where you're coming from. Your input is almost always right on point here and this is no exception. And I love your reviews. But I covet pieces that my eyes love. Not their names or brands and not their price tags. For example, #four has an incredibly sexy Sinn Chronograph that I find irresistible to my eyes. It's not that I want the perceived value of his watch to go down but I sure would love to find it one day at $1,000 preowned thanks to TV. (I know it ain't gonna happen but you get what I'm saying? )

I'd love for the perceived value of those watches that I love visually to go down so I can finally get make a big effort to get them. Just missed a beautiful preowned Doxa for $900. Bad timing for me.

If the brand is "cheapened" that only helps me and those that love them but don't love their current prices. So I'd really be ok with that. VERY OK. Those brands are not worried about my collection or my bills so I'm sure not gonna mind if I buy a watch after it's been cheapened, as long as I love how it looks. And if it goes down even lower since my purchase, I hope I feel like it was worth every penny like I did when I got it.
