Default Rakuten - price has to be too good to be true

So I ran across a watch I'm interested in on Rakuten. Price seems to good to be true. I need some feedback from buyers, preferable both good and bad experiences, as to whether or not it is truly trustworthy... also, no mention of warranty, so is this "Grey Market" and I shouldn't expect one? Listed as "Manufacturer direct purchase."

I did some searching in here and a few people have bought from them, but not a clear indication on the warranty idea... a little advice is welcome.

Rakuten is like Amazon where they may not be the seller, just the middle man. For example Jomashop sells through Rakuten, so your dealing is with them and Rakuten just works the transaction. They are as reputable as the seller behind the item.

Here is a Joma example:

I read that it was like Amazon somewhere. Taking a better look at the seller then would be good. Thank you, good sir!

Not enough info to form an opinion. Perhaps a link or something ?

If you don't mind me asking, which watch are you looking at?

I checked a few that I know the ballpark price of and they all seemed very in line.

Seiko Sumo - god, I hate to even share for fear someone grabs it before I'm done contemplating. But, hey, that's life. http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/w...p/item/pro020/

FunkD, in case some jackass swoops in on your piece, I've been watching this auction:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEIKO-SBDC03...oAAOSwYmZXJEha

About the same $ with shipping.

Thought you were a little leery abut giving up the link. Price is great. But no warranty or return policy always makes me a little nervous. Especially when dealing with Japan. Good luck.

I have in the past bought a couple of Citizen Super Titanium watches from Global Ratuken without any problems at all.

Is skipping a warranty worth saving $130 from domestic prices? ... that is the question.

I say do it. Vender has a solid rating and on the off chance something is wrong $130 can make for a pretty decent chunk of a minor repair.

I wouldn't. To many variables. Never sent. You're out money. Gets lost in the mail. You're out money. Arrives with a crushed crystal and not working. Your out money. Not like you're gonna get anywhere trying to contact them and or sue them.
Saving $130 to pay for repairs upon delivery has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

If it's DOA or you have an immediate problem that you can't resolve with the vender you have this

http://www.rakuten.com/help/content/216333117

Down the road from there it's down to Seikos reputation and the likelihood of a failure (unlikely in my opinion). Then you have $130 in surplus (saved money) and THEN your out of pocket in excess of what you'd pay here.

It's not bad big picture risk wise, BUT there's always a chance things can go weird.

Paypal protection as well. There is a one year warranty, too, according to the vender.

It's a real pain needing to be thrifty.

Or I could get that refurbished DJI Phantom drone...

Funk:
As many posters have mentioned, a lot of their watches are sold "3rd Party".

I just bought one o those "too good to be true" (well too good IMO i.e.)

It was the Casio GD350 Vibration alarm model. MSRP at most dealers is
$130.00. At Rakutens, $78.97. By using my Rakuten Sales Points (5900)
cost to me was $16.97. Or about a $62.00 discount. + Rakuten shipped
it Free Gratis. I know it's no Rangeman, or Mr. G. But it's just the beater
I needed.

I say roll the dice and go for it. If a warranty issue arises at least it will give you arsenal to report back with. Nevertheless, it's a good price. Just check the seller and make sure that they have good transactions history.
-That's my two cents

The Yen has really taken a crap against the dollar. Maybe a year ago you could just move a decimal 2 places to the left and get to about an equivalent dollar amount. For example the piece you posted WOULD HAVE been about 453.00 USD. That will help explain some of the pricing you see on Rakuten. If your seller really is in Japan the price is the same as it always was ... you're just paying in a premium currency .
