Default Favourite snack

I know, just as difficult to answer as: what is your favourite watch and often this isn't restricted to just one. So more than one is fine of course.

To me a snack is savoury and not sweet. My number one are canned sardines from French brand Les Perles des Dieux. These are sardines that are fried before they are canned in virgine olive oil and are vintage, like wine. I now have some cans from 2014 but they go way back and can be kept for decades.

On toast they are heavenly, and go very well with a good glass of Chardonnay. Like right now

Second come lightly salted jumbo cashew nuts, I'm almost addicted to these

What's your vice?

Well I do like to roast cashews, pecans, almonds and pistachios in the oven with salt, a little pepper and either peanut oil or butter. Dee-lish and fairly healthy.

But, fried-before-canned sardines? These I will have to try. I like 'em when not fried but few foods aren't improved when fried.

Oops, I meant grilled before canned. Quite the difference.

My favorite snack is double buttered popcorn with fudge on the side. It makes for a great sweet and salty mix..

I buy these at Costco. They don't last long.
