THERE ARE NO WRONG ANSWERS - Both are amazing watches and everyone's opinion is theirs and perfectly fine.
The obvious differences are the dial layout, size of each (close but different), and water resistance)
Let's do this for fun. So post below which you like better, and why.

I am a Steelfish fan. Always liked the arrow tip second hand and hour and minute hand look. For the dial I am a fan of the circles and the numbers combo.
I like the Breitling Superocean Steelfish X-Plus the most.
I like the dial better, 24 hour markings and hands are better IMO.
I also like the size more, 44 vs 45 is not that big of deal but I like the case thickness of 16.5 vs 18.5 for the cuff factor.
My second choice is the Breitling Avenger Seawolf :lol
I think the case and bracelet are the same but crisper, not as buffed out, which I would prefer, I also like the crown better.
Put the crown of the Avenger on the Steelfish and its a done deal.
My vote goes towards the Steelfish for obvious reasons. Best watch I've ever owned. It is built like a tank and I prefer the dial layout over the others.
The ASW wins this one for me..I know it's a very minute detail since there is so many things to marvel at, but the crown is one thing that makes me gravitate towards the SeaWolf..Also I much prefer the dial layout
One more point...The Steelfish has a classier(I should say sportier)look to it,while the Seawolf has a more military look to it IMO....I truly love em'both. How could you not??....They are Breitlings'......I wish I had them both in my collection...
Avenger...I'm a Super Avenger fan and this is the closest to it. I love the larger, knurled crown, which equals the SA. I also like the numeral layout and design on the Seawolf...not to mention it's a little larger and thicker case.
You know my choice and why, but I will put it out here for the Seawolf. Just like it overall in pure looks for me personally, love the crown and dial especially.
Owned both.
Seawolf is my choice. Better crOwn system(patented), nicer dial and mess clutered, nicer indices(round ones were too much), sportier...
Just looks better on the wrist IMo
I like the round hour markers better on the Steelfish so that is my choice. No wrong answer just a personal preference. I am sure 1500m will work just the same as 3000m on your wrist.
Tough choice, both beautiful watches, and I would love to own either. If pressed I would opt for the Seawolf... the dial has a little more attitude to it, and I much prefer the aesthetics of the crown on the Seawolf.
Those are actually the two models I would come down to if I had to choose also. Both are gorgeous but I think the Steelfish beats out the Seawolf by a nose. I absolutely love the blue dial Steelfish and if it had to be a Seawolf - the Grey dial model is my fav.
Sorry Dom....I just don't like the look....I am not a fan of the SS bracelet, black dial look. Does nothing for me...never has either....no matter what name is on the watch.
Mainly...I am not a Breitling fan...unless it one of the Uber expensive 18K rose gold or yellow goldversions....like a Breitling Bentley. Most of their other designs are just boring to me. And there was a time in my life I could have purchased one without thinking twice about spending the money on one....but they never did anything for me.
