INOX pays tribute to Victorinox history. Its name honors an early 20th century invention that did much for the development and success of the Swiss Army Knife: stainless steel. 'Inox' (French for 'stainless steel') is synonymous with material strength, durability and resistance to corrosion. For Victorinox in particular, it marks the link between knifemaking and watchmaking, between the historical activity of the company, which was founded in 1884, and the manufacture of its first watch in 1989.
The INOX watch can withstand a 10-meter drop onto a concrete surface, have a 64-ton tank drive over it, and resists two hours in a washing machine as well as a sandstorm. It can resist variations in temperature from - 51° C to +71 ° C and 12G forces of acceleration and deceleration. INOX has also been subjected to attack by corrosive products such as gasoline, solvents, oils, cleaning products and insecticides.
INOX is solid steel. The watch's case has been stamped and machined in the metal, creating a protective envelope of unsurpassed strength. Designed to withstand unusual vibration, shock and temperature changes, it has been reinforced well beyond the standards of a conventional timepiece, and is guaranteed to maintain a perfect seal underwater to a depth of 200 meters.
The case measures 43mm and the crystal is an AR-coated sapphire.
Heard about this one the other day. If it's reasonably priced come september when it is out might just have to pick one up. I like the idea of a tough as nails watch. Can wear it around the shop or in the mountains without a care.
Be like having a Toyota truck for a daily driver so you don't trash the Porsche
This one's really impressive James. Love the whole toughness theme with the single sealed piece dial, along with stamped markers, and other reinforced, and protected parts of the watch. ..Also think the bumber is a great idea. Wonder if that will almost be a trend, or option that comes with more watches in the future. :smileyface_hand_cla Cool watch James ! Thanks very much !
I want one for work as an alternative to my "plastic" watches. Sounds like it would take the water, grease, soap, chemicals, bumps and knocks of the kitchen quite well.
Just checking in with a quick update on the INOX as this has really caught my attention. I spoke to Victorinox UK and apparently it's due to be released w/c 18th August with a RRP of £329.00.
On paper, this thing is set to be a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing and the overall dimensions are spot on perfect for me too.
Tempted as an alternative to gshock. Did get a momentum that I also wear for outdoor activities so not a real need. And it's enough money that I'd be hard pressed to call it a beater. Still a nice looking watch. like the blue a lot
Just saw them at Macys and looked very nice and fit well. The blue and green caught my eye. The selling price was $450 including tax
with friends and family discount.
I have been a long time Casio G-Shock fan and recently got one of these.
The INOX build like a tank with the SS case. The dial is nice and simple, quite easy on the eyes. I found the case finish to be very good, the brush and polished finish are nice and even. The included rubber strap is a nice thick natural rubber strap and seems like it will last.
My only real complain is the lume. It looks to have "standard" C1 SL lume. It will take a little charging before it will glow bright. But it does last a good 3 to 4 hr in the dark and can see be seen with dark adjusted eyes.
Overall its a really nice watch that's super tough. For the price, I don't see a competitor for it yet.
Casio doesn't offer full metal G-Shock until you reach the MRG price point, which is $2000-3000+, even the MTGS1000 is a mix of plastic and metal and rougher double the INOX street price. The MTGS1000 does have more function though.
Something like a Seiko 300m Tuna is double the INOX street prices as well, but its available with bracelet and doesn't have sapphire crystal from the factory. It does offer a useful timing bezel and has the legendary Seiko dive lume.
